Palmerston North

Welcome

Massey Child Care in Palmerston North has been operating since the early 1970's. over time the Centre has grown to meet the needs of our community. Today this Centre has licensing for up to 130 children, with custom built spaces inside and out to encourage exploration and collaboration.

With four main sections, the Hoiho and Tui Sections for infants and toddlers, and the Kiwi and Kea Sections for young children. Children can transition through the Centre based on their needs rather than age.

Each section of the Centre has its own inside play environment, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining area, double doors opening on to the deck, and which not only doubles the play space, but can be used all year round.  Each section also has its own playground, as well as access to our extended garden, and nature corridors.

Our Programmes

Infant & Toddler’s Attachment Based Learning
Relationships form the core of who we are and must therefore be at the centre of our work with children. This is why our infant and toddler programme follows an Attachment Based Learning (ABL) philosophy. We believe that responsive, attuned relationships facilitate both congnitive and emotional wellbing for a child. Our programmes help children develop trust in themselves, and in the world around them.

Young Children’s Community of Researchers
Our young children’s programme focuses on promoting enquiry, collaborative learning opportunities, and exploring each child’s emerging interests. Curiosity, confidence, creativity, exploration and collaboration are encouraged through reciprocal relationships, active listening, and reflective teaching, as well as through a rich and thought-provoking environment.
